Hi, I'm Marius. I'm a PhD student in Montreal, studying genetics in a computational setting — the genetic basis of autoimmune diseases, read out of large datasets. My day-to-day work involves statistical modelling, computational analysis, and making sense of complex biological data — skills that map directly to the math and science concepts I help students master.
Before my PhD, I graduated summa cum laude from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Biochemistry with a minor in Economics, earning Dean's Honour List recognition all four years.
Earlier still, I completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma, taking Higher Level Mathematics alongside Higher Level Economics and Biology, with English, Philosophy and French at Standard Level. A two-year programme that ends in external exams is something I have sat through myself, not just taught — which is usually the part students want to talk about.

We start with a written diagnostic
Before any plan is written, a short paper separates the prerequisites that are genuinely solid from the ones that only look solid. Sessions then aim at the real gap instead of re-teaching what you already know.
I set practice on the exact topic, and mark it
If you want work between sessions, you get a set written for exactly what we covered rather than a chapter of a textbook. I mark it before we next meet and read each error for what caused it, so the next hour opens on the cause instead of the symptom.
I write a recap after every session
A short note goes out after each session: what we covered, what was handled unaided, what has been assigned and what comes next.
I keep a record that carries forward
Every student has a standing file: the route through the course with dates, what each session actually established, and a short list of recurring slips to catch.
